Caryn won the great wheel generously built and donated to Fiber College by Gary Kitchen and Bill Forbes. Inspired by our desire to keep traditional crafts alive and offer scholarships to students attending Fiber College, Gary & Bill built two wheels based on one they had at the Windsor Maine Historical Society. Fiber College will keep one to share and last week Caryn brought hers home to Massachusetts after a quick lesson on long draw spinning by Astrig (who learned from Katharine Cobey). The Great Wheel raffle generated almost $700 for the scholarship fund.
